Green jungle descends from surrounding hills to the village. The pace of life in La Manzanilla is slow and quiet enough to be relaxing, yet offers enough activities to interest the more active traveller as well. Home to many artists and artisans there are classes in Yoga, Tai Chi, dance and more. The beach with its white sand and gentle waves is a short, three minute walk away. Fishing birds abound, and you might spot porpoises chasing schools of silvery fish, with pelicans gliding over the bay. Three miles of sandy crescent shoreline stretch from the village to Boca de Iguanas, perfect for barefoot strolls or bike rides. Kayak, birding and jungle trips are offered by Immersion Tours, a perfect way to get close to what nature has to offer in La Manzanilla. Gentle horses may be rented for a ride along the beach where garlic shrimp is one of the specialties at the seaside palapa restaurants. Crocodiles sunbathe at the mouth of the lagoon not far from the village. As the sun warms up the day they rest on the
sandbar, providing fascinating observation and the anchor for a protected Biosphere project of the Mexican government.
